Trip across the state

In the past week and change I have been across the state of New York.  Here were my destinations:

  1. Buffalo, NY Friday July 11th for an iPhone
  2. Victor, NY Sunday July 13th for gas
  3. Binghamton, NY Sunday July 13th on my way to Albany
  4. Oneonta, NY Sunday July 13th for lunch/dinner at Brooks BBQ
  5. Albany, NY Monday July 14th – Friday July 18th for a class
  6. Oneonta, NY Wednesday July 16th for lunch and to visit people
  7. Latham and Troy, NY Thursday July 17th for dinner and exploring
  8. Schenectady, NY Friday July 18th for dinner
  9. Cicero, NY Saturday July 19th for a party
  10. Syracuse, NY Saturday July 19th to stay at a friend’s place
  11. Rochester, NY Sunday July 20th on my way back home

It’s been a week.  I really missed my own bed when I returned home.  I’m glad to be back in Rochester, but being away from home had me wondering about certain questions.  Perhaps I’ll blog about it later.

Blizzard #1

Okay, so I’ve decided to start counting blizzards here in Oneonta.  Today was blizzard #1.  The snow fell so fast it wasn’t funny and by 2pm classes were canceled as everyone made a mad dash home.  Look at this picture:

You can see the tire tracks.  On the other side of that wooden wall?  There’s supposed to be a road, but there’s not.  First item on the shopping list this weekend: snow tires.

At least in Buffalo they plowed.

AT&T now in Oneonta!

Well, it’s official.  CellularOne is now AT&T.  However, their website still says we’re on “partner coverage” and their website redirect doesn’t quite work just yet.  However, all the stores are rebranded.  I’m happy I don’t have to travel an hour if I need an AT&T store.

Weekend Recap

So, all in all this was a pretty good weekend.  There’s still a wee bit more of it to go, but here’s what I did in a nutshell.

Friday - I had the day off from work so I cleaned my apartment and did laundry.  That night I went out with three people from campus and the one’s partner.  There was music, there was drink and there was cake.

Saturday - Got up somewhat early to go shopping/have coffee on Main Street with my work wife (we ran into a clerk from work as well as spotting our boss – just goes to prove you can’t go out in Oneonta without spotting SOMEONE from work), then I did some laundry. About 5pm Jeff came from Buffalo to visit me.  I introduced him to Brooks (the best BBQ chicken I’ve ever had).  I gave him the tour of Oneonta and we watched movies.

Sunday - Up somewhat early for breakfast before Jeff headed home.  I then went in pursuit of a wallet.   No luck in this small town.  Sure I could find a wallet, but I can’t find anything like the one I have.  I only carry four or five cards with me at any given time, so I want a nice slim wallet with one compartment that’s see through so I can put my license in it.  After checking out the Small (localspeak for “Southside Mall” because it has approximately 10 stores in it) and the place I hate to shop in Oneonta. I went home and got ready for work.  Two hours left in this shift then home to figure out dinner and relax before bed.

Reader, did you have a good weekend?

It’s that time of year again…

Today was one of the worst drives from Rochester to Oneonta that I’ve yet experienced — just plain stupid people on the road.   If someone is pulled over, don’t stop to look at them… just keep going and be glad it wasn’t you!  At least I had my iPhone with plenty of music to keep me entertained.

Three Days no Posts?

Just where have I been, o blogosphere?   No where exceptional would be the short answer.  Friday I had a meeting in Syracuse and today I got two new tires and an oil change.  Tomorrow: off to the outlets to shop.  Life goes on in Oneonta.

Dreary Sunday

November 4th

It’s November, alright.  How much longer till that dreaded four letter word comes along?

This weekend was fairly productive: bought leopard, spent time with family, got my hair cut, went grocery shopping and did a load of much needed jeans and towels (although this week I’m going to be wearing dress pants mostly to work).

Anyone else here using Leopard?

Home Sweet Home

I’m home. Back in Oneonta, that is. After eight hours on the road, I finally made it to my apartment. (Although I’m at work right now writing this because I wanted to see if there are any ISPs that provide a free 800# to use on dialup).

Sorry for the short post, but it’s almost midnight and I want to go home (right after stopping at Hannaford for milk).

Oh, I almost forgot the pictures.

Traversing New York

So I’m in Buffalo this week.  There’s a conference I’m attending for my job.  I’d like to rant about Buffalo drivers: they’re horrible.  Not just bad, horrible.  Today I was on Niagara Falls Blvd in Amherst and this guy KNEW he was in the wrong lane, yet he still did his best to stay in that lane until the last possible moment and then cut me off.  Yup, I’ve forgotten how bad they are.

On a more positive note, I’m seeing a lot of people I’ve missed for a very long time.  I forgot how I actually had friends in Buffalo.  Oh Oneonta, what have you done to me?
