The Mens

Ok, now I’m going to talk about sex.  Well, not exactly, but dating and men.

Tonight was a decent night.  I went out to a bar after a party and ran into a former flame.  Well, can someone you became infatuated with but didn’t return the favor be a flame?  To make it more complicated I was there with the-guy-who-is-practically-a-boyfriend-but-we’re-just-friends-because-he-wanted-it-that-way-and-now-I’ve-friend-zoned-him-and-it’s-awkard-at-times.  We’ll psuedonym them both and the old flame will be Will and the friend will be Keith.

Will and I met online a long time ago and talked for a few months before meeting.  He encouraged me to come out and meet him.  I did and then spent two hours talking to him after the bar closed.  There’s just something about the way Will would look at me without saying anything.  His eyes said things like “I think you’re adorable and like looking at you.”  Plus, he’s adorable.  In fact, he reminds me of Simon Baker.  He’s taller than I am, not a stick (not fat nor exactly thin).  Anyways, life got complicated after that night and we didn’t really end up talking for a while.  Time’s passed and I still find him as attractive as ever.  To the point that I start to turn into a bumbling idiot when he looks at me.  Oh, his eyes.

Anyways, being there with Keith was awkward because I think Keith is definitely infatuated with me, bordering on wants to have a relationship.  So, when Will came over and spent a good portion of the night next to me and we proceeded to catch up, and Will would look me in the eyes.  Anyways, I’m pretty sure Keith noticed.  I feel bad about it, but if Keith and I are just friends is that a major issue?  Let me know in the comments.

Introspect

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of introspection.  Someone asked me the other day how I liked my new job, and if I was happy up here.  I know I’m happier than I was a year ago in Oneonta.  However, I’m not sure I’m as happy as I’d like to be.

I have good friends, but I still lack that someone who makes me smile for no reason.  To speak the truth, I’m getting tired of dating.  I had this realization this afternoon after a platonic date.  I met this guy out at a movie, and we watched the movie and parted ways.  It was like we went to the movie just to not go alone.  On the way home I just wanted to relax and have some time alone.  At that moment it dawned on me: am I too independent for a relationship?  Last year made me very independent and I learned how to be good being alone.  Yes, I blogged more and spent more time online; but I got used to spending time alone.

Also, I’m not sure if the degree I’m currently taking is really what I want to do.  Yes, it’s the definitive degree to be an instructional designer; however, I’m not sure if that’s what I’d like to do.  I was researching PhD programs and I think that’s the path I’d like to take.  Maybe in 5 years I’ll give it all up and go back to get my PhD.  Who knows.

Well, I’m headed out for the evening, who knows who I’ll meet…

Water water everywhere

First, my tub leaks (and I get a new floor) and now it’s storming outside to the point of hailing.   More on the new floor when it’s finally fixed.

Life has been interesting lately.  I’ve been dating some, which is nice and scary at the same time.  Readers, would you like me to chronicle some dates I’ve been on?  It might scare intrigue you.

A dear friend of mine got a job in Virgina recently and it was good to see her one last time this weekend before she goes down there on Friday.

This just in for non sequiturs: work is starting to pick up as the students come back at the end of the week.  Still haven’t moved offices yet.

  3. Binghamton, NY Sunday July 13th on my way to Albany
  4. Oneonta, NY Sunday July 13th for lunch/dinner at Brooks BBQ
  5. Albany, NY Monday July 14th – Friday July 18th for a class
  6. Oneonta, NY Wednesday July 16th for lunch and to visit people
  7. Latham and Troy, NY Thursday July 17th for dinner and exploring

  9. Cicero, NY Saturday July 19th for a party
  10. Syracuse, NY Saturday July 19th to stay at a friend’s place
  11. Rochester, NY Sunday July 20th on my way back home

It’s been a week.  I really missed my own bed when I returned home.  I’m glad to be back in Rochester, but being away from home had me wondering about certain questions.  Perhaps I’ll blog about it later.

Quite a week/weekend

Hi All,

It’s been quite a week.  I was at a conference for work this past Wednesday – Friday.  It was awesome.  Reconnected with a lot of people from across the state.  Saw a few hot people, and just generally had a great time.  Saturday brought a trip to Buffalo to see my school girlfriend, Bee, her new house, some other great grad school friends, and a bunch of other generally attractive people.  Good weekend.

Dissertation Reading

So I’m up to page 35. Around 120 more pages to proof. Should be easy, but it’s been a while since I’ve taken a Spanish linguistics class. Starting tomorrow I’m going for 10-20 pages a day. My goal is to be finished by the weekend.

On another note, no one seems to be reading or commenting on my blog anymore. Maybe that’s why I’ve given up posting. Here’s a picture:

Above are the people I’ve been hanging out with most of my time, Toni and Robin.

Friends are good

So instead of going to the conference today, I saw friends.  I forgot what it’s like to have friends.  Friends are good.

I’m looking forward to more friendship activities tomorrow with two friends I haven’t seen in a long time.

Traversing New York

So I’m in Buffalo this week.  There’s a conference I’m attending for my job.  I’d like to rant about Buffalo drivers: they’re horrible.  Not just bad, horrible.  Today I was on Niagara Falls Blvd in Amherst and this guy KNEW he was in the wrong lane, yet he still did his best to stay in that lane until the last possible moment and then cut me off.  Yup, I’ve forgotten how bad they are.

On a more positive note, I’m seeing a lot of people I’ve missed for a very long time.  I forgot how I actually had friends in Buffalo.  Oh Oneonta, what have you done to me?
