Trip across the state
In the past week and change I have been across the state of New York. Here were my destinations:
- Buffalo, NY Friday July 11th for an iPhone
- Victor, NY Sunday July 13th for gas
- Binghamton, NY Sunday July 13th on my way to Albany
- Oneonta, NY Sunday July 13th for lunch/dinner at Brooks BBQ
- Albany, NY Monday July 14th – Friday July 18th for a class
- Oneonta, NY Wednesday July 16th for lunch and to visit people
- Latham and Troy, NY Thursday July 17th for dinner and exploring
- Schenectady, NY Friday July 18th for dinner
- Cicero, NY Saturday July 19th for a party
- Syracuse, NY Saturday July 19th to stay at a friend’s place
- Rochester, NY Sunday July 20th on my way back home
It’s been a week. I really missed my own bed when I returned home. I’m glad to be back in Rochester, but being away from home had me wondering about certain questions. Perhaps I’ll blog about it later.

More on the iPhone
So, as the release date (July 11 if you’re sleeping under a rock and don’t know it exists) approaches, I’ve been reading up on the iPhone like CRAZY. Here are things that I’ve found out:
- Price: $69.99 + text messaging packages. It appears that the voice+data will be subject to corporate discounts.
- The AppStore might change my mind on getting the iPhone. Launch date: tomorrow. Specifically iCall.
- David Pogue did a hilarious video on the iPhone 3G.
- Other reviews: Mossberg, Pogue & Baig (TUAW)
Chances are I’ll be getting an iPhone. Chances are also good that I’ll be keeping my Verizon line for a week during my upcoming trip to Albany.

White Stuff
Fresh from the back of my car this morning. Yes, that’s a library themed license plate. Isn’t it still too early for this, even in November?
It’s a rather sunny day here, too:
Today’s plans? Off to Albany for dinner with a library school friend.

15 miles on the Erie Canal
Who remembers this song? Well, I grew up in a town on the Erie Canal (well, just north of one, but my school district was on the other side). I remember learning this song (perhaps you know it as “Low Bridge”) and signing it in grade school chorus.
In grad school, I lived at the western end of the canal, Buffalo, and now I live closer to the eastern end, Albany. What’s the point of this post? The song popped into my head and I wanted to see how many people knew it. Comment on this song or any other famous songs that you remember signing growing up.
