Email problems

June 23, 2008

I have email identity issues, yes I do.  I tend to change my email addresses as often as some people change bedsheets.  I would say underwear, but I do that daily. I don’t change email addresses that often, and I always forward the old one to the new one. Should I have a different email for each part of me? Currently I keep three accounts.  They are:

  1. Personal (gmx)
  2. Work (work domain)
  3. Internet junk (AIM)

I used to keep a fourth when I had the iPhone because yahoo had free push email and let’s face it: only what needed to go there went there.  I had Gmail before GMX for personal stuff, and I think I’m going back.  More people use Gmail, it’s quick loading and really quite something.  It’s just a matter of time before push Gmail comes along.

Ask the readers (if any of you still read this): What do you use for email?

Haha. It’s funny you should post this. When I saw the new Yahoo! mail (ymail.com) I thought of you. I was counting the seconds until I received a “Hey guys, I’m changing my email to…” I guess I won’t be seeing that now! *smirk*

Personally, I’m a Gmail girl all the way. Actually, I’m just an all around Google loving girl. I heart the big G.

I still use my university’s webmail system for most stuff, although I have my own web domain email too, and then there’s work email. So, three accounts in all, I suppose. It’s quite the bother.

I’m embarrassed to say this — I have 7, count ‘em SEVEN, email accounts. Everyone has the work email. And I have my professional/resume email (gmail) but really, the rest need to be condensed. They are remnants of past lives (juno, hotmail, yahoo) that I rarely check. I, like Bridget, am a fan of the gmail. I like tagging, filtering, etc. But really, who can have less that 3? You need a work address, a personal address, and then a junk address as far as I’m concerned…
